With growth in world demand for industrial and consumer goods, especially from developing nations such as China and India, the quest for natural resources becomes increasingly important. One of the countries set to satisfy these needs is Canada, although most of its national 'treasures' are hidden deep beneath the Arctic tundra. Fueled by their value, the search for and recovery of such resources become both imperative and lucrative, even in remote and inaccessible locations. Some of Canada's more glamorous natural assets are diamonds, which are presently being extracted from the country's Arctic regions in three large-scale operations.
