On January 20, 2012, Airbus delivered the 5,000th A320 series to Lebanon's national carrier, Middle East Airlines (MEA). The aircraft was delivered from Hamburg-Finkenwerder where three days earlier Airbus management gave an upbeat assessment of the company's position in the market and its future demand forecast.
