In 2002 the production of aluminium in Russia in 2002 amounted to 3348 kt (3299 kt in 2001). Thus, the volume of exports of primary aluminium and primary alloys to further abroad from Russia is forecast to be 2690 kt, taking into account some reduction of aluminium processing and substantial growth of the internal utilisation of aluminium for end-products (table 3). About 77% of the primary aluminium produced in Russia is exported. About 790 kt of the aluminium (or 23% of production) go to processing, and of the products about 440 kt are exported while 350 kt (10% of overall processed products) go to the domestic market. Taking imports into account, the total amount of internal primary aluminium and primary alloy utilisation for the manufacture of end products will amount to some 480 kt in 2003.
