Hydro Aluminium's turnover with the automotive industry amounts to around Euro 2 billion, making the company one of the most important players in this market. Its supplies range from deliveries of metal, through special semis, to fully pre-processed components. In the run-up to the Frankfurt International Motor Show (IAA), where Hydro Aluminium will have a stand of its own, this article takes a closer look at these interesting activities of the company. As the largest and rapidly growing field of application for aluminium, the automotive market is of outstanding interest to every major aluminium company. When the then VAW aluminium was taken over by Norway's Norsk Hydro in March 2002, one task among many others was to combine the proliferating automotive activities of both companies and to define a common strategy for future action in the important automotive market.
