摘要

During the preparation stage of the VIR[Cast] project, it war recognised that different software approaches (developed in-house or commercially available solutions) were used by the various industrial partners and that each partner was already mastering the use of several software solutions. Therefore the option to create an entirely new simulation tool integrating all existing and future simulation needs was not a priority and thought to be too ambitious. The final recommendation was thus the development of a centralised software platform linking together existing solutions and future developments. The main objective of this centralised software platform is the ability to chain various simulations in the same was as processes are chained in aluminium factories.
