The close cooperation between Ebner Industrieofenbau/Austria and Corus Aluminium Walzprodukte of Koblenz, Germany reaches back many years. While the last 25 years have seen delivery of batch-type furnaces, soaking pit furnaces and a roller-hearth furnace facility from the standard product line, the most recent challenge was to deliver a "Hicon" furnace facility to reheat aluminum and aluminum-alloy ingots. A special requirement for this furnace was that it be able, when needed, to heat treat hot-rolled strip coils with a maximum outer diameter of 2000 mm. The choice fell on a car bottom furnace, as its special design features allowed it to meet these widely different requirements. The furnace can be operated using different heating systems, depending on the type of material to be annealed.
