Built to take advantage of the power generated by the Aswan Dan,the Nag-Hammadi aluminium plant counts three potlines (460 cells), which turn out 180,000 tonnes of aluminium each year .The plant is based on Russian technology that dates back 25 years(Soderberg cells).Primarily manually operated, it no longer complies with international pollution control and automation standards.
