One of the objectives of future production technology is to most of lightweight construction methods while achieving improved property profiles and good economy as well. The need for mass production in both automotive and other forms of mechanical engineering can be met, inter alia, by appropriate utilization of metallic foam composite structures .The prerequisite for this is fundamental investigation of the behaviour of such materials and the machinability of metallic foam composite structures .The present contribution gives a synopsis of the properties and machining parameters of selected composites determined on the basis of an analysis of industrial requirements.
