All five of the presses with extrusion loads of 36 to 160 MN delivered or currently being delivered by SMS Meer to Jilin Liyuan use powerful, state-of-the-art IAS induction furnaces for heating the billets. The furnaces can be used extremely flexibly: for short and long billets, for modest up to large throughputs and for a variety of alloys including those that are not easy to extrude. The overhead handling by the billet manipulator ensures careful transport of the material.
