This paper describes recent developments realised on casting machines manufactured by Gautschi, a leading supplier of equipment for primary aluminium casthouses and recycling plants. In addition to providing a wide-range of melting , holding and heat treatment furnaces, the company manufactures three types of aluminium casting machines: horizontal direct chill, vertical direct chill and open mould ingot casting machines. The following sections introduce the latest innovations that Gautschi has put into operation.
