Defining North America's tower crane market is a difficult task, especially since this market was among the hardest hit by the economic downturn. In compiling our annual list of the largest tower crane owners in North America, we discovered a market that has bottomed out and is now on the slow road to recovery. Like our other popular top lists, the ACT Tower Crane 20 calls on companies that own and/or rent tower cranes to submit information on their fleets. We then rank the companies by their tower crane index which is calculated by adding together the maximum load moment rating, in ton-meters, of all the tower cranes in a company's fleet.
