History is running headlong into the poor economy in Adams County, Pa., as developers and preservationists continue to argue the merits of a casino in the shadow of the Gettysburg National Military Park.rn"Locating and marketing a gambling facility at Gettysburg unavoidably conflicts with the essential meaning of this place in American history," Civil War Preservation Trust President James Lighthizer told the Gettysburg Times. Also in opposition are the National Parks Conservation Association, the National Trust for Historic Preservation and Preservation Pennsylvania.
