Pt-Ag nanoparticles were prepared on a glassy carbonn(GC) surface by pulsed electrodeposition and tested usingncyclic voltammetry and scanning electrochemical microscopyn(SECM) with respect to their possible use as catalystnmaterial for oxygen reduction in 400 mM HCl solution.nFor comparison, a Pt catalyst was investigated undernsimilar conditions. The redox competition mode of scanningnelectrochemical microscopy (RC-SECM) was adaptednto the specific conditions caused by the presence of Clionsnand used to visualize the local catalytic activity ofnthe Pt-Ag deposits. Similarly prepared Pt depositsnwere shown to dissolve underneath the SECM tip.nPt-Ag composites showed improved long-term stabilityntoward oxygen reduction as compared with Pt evennunder multiple switching off to open-circuit potentialnin 400 mM HCl.
