It was found that the main ternary fission products, such as ~4He, ~14C, ~20O, ~24Ne and ~28Mg, are also the main cluster in cluster radioactivity decay. This similarity suggests that ternary fission can be described as a cluster decay of the fissioning nucleus in the last phase of the scission process.
