Business process integration is a sought-after activity, with more and more activities joining to transform business into a cohesive activity. The conventional product-centric approach is giving way to a customer-centric approach, with the customer becoming focus of all business activity. This has resulted in just in time (JIT) becoming an essential principle of operations. The ultimate goal of JIT is a system that achieves a smooth, rapid flow of materials and / or work through the system. Transportation, the main artery of logistics and supply-chain management (SCM), refers to the movement of goods from the source to the destination and consumes nearly half the investments. For a modern business following the principle of JIT, it becomes essential to have an eye on every movement of logistics to optimize the production facility. An auxiliary service from communication infrastructure providers can enable a low-cost initiative for tracking logistics. LOGI-Track primarily uses a modified form of connectionless messaging services to communicate the location of logistics and navigated intermediate points. Implementing LOGI-Track value-added services (VASs) requires a certain modification to existing services' policies and standards. With no additional cost toward infrastructure, this service may prove to be boom for third-party logistics (3PL).
