摘要

Since its inception in 1905, the NCAA has engaged in practices that affect both output and input markets. In output markets, the impact is felt in the sale of sports or sports entertainment products. In input markets, the impact falls primarily on labor. The practices of the NCAA in one output market-television broadcast rights-were considered most prominently by the U. S. Supreme Court in NCAA v. Board of Regents of the University of Oklahoma.1 Although subject to somewhat less publicity, a number of courts have also examined the NCAA's efforts in the input markets composed of coaches and players.2 Within these input markets, the NCAA possesses significant monopsony power.3
