Many members call or email AOPA with questions and concerns about hypertension. Some fear that their elevated blood pressure will make it difficult or complicated when they renew their airman medical certificate. Relax. Gone are the days when pilots with hypertension needed a special issuance authorization for a medical certificate. Now your aviation medical examiner can issue a medical certificate in the office for airmen with hypertension under a program called CACI (Conditions AMEs Can Issue).
