Here's a new acronym for your flight bag: LUAW or "line up and wait." What does it mean when you hear these ATC instructions while you're on the taxiway waiting for your departure clearance? Instead of the familiar phrase "taxi into position and hold," the controller will issue "line up and wait" instructions to indicate you may taxi onto the runway and wait for a takeoff clearance. This change brings the United States in line with standardrnICAO phraseology. Go online for details. Remember, the new terminology change was expected to take place on September 30,2010.
