Design of screening procedures for industrial processes involves a decision-making strategy to select optimal specification regions under a 100/100 inspection scheme. Although researchers and practitioners have proposed a multitude of screening procedures under various assumptions, they have not thoroughly considered nor accurately captured outgoing product quality. This paper presents an optimization model for selecting optimal specification regions based on minimizing total cost. A defining aspect of this paper is the use of a truncated probability distribution to model the outgoing product distribution. Consequently, this paper proposes an enhanced modeling framework for designing screening procedures. A numerical example is presented to illustrate the optimization model.
