The future-oriented rebuild of the PM 2 by Sappi at the Alfeld mill to a high quality special paper machine represented new challenges for all involved. The company's extensive experience in the area of special papers, something clearly demonstrated already in Alfeld by the four existing paper machines, could now be switched to the new, high-volume production unit. Through the new possibilities offered by this high-tech plant combined with the innovative force of all development divisions in the group, the aim was to ensure that Sappi Alfeld can preserve and expand its leadership in the area of speciality papers in future.
