It was all but impossible to miss the huge DCNS stand at this year's Euronaval exhibition in Paris between 27 and 31 October. The French shipbuilder was showcasing several of its existing designs with a fleet of model ships stretching across the floor space. The company continues to market its Fremm multi-purpose frigate and hopes to score export sales in Greece and Saudi Arabia, building on the recent success of Morocco's purchase. rnAcross the hall, German shipbuilder Thyssen-Krupp Marine Systems showcased the Meko CSL concept design for the next generation of the company's Meko family. This next incarnation will feature container-sized mission modules that can be loaded into the ship according to the required mission. This takes an idea pioneered by the Stanflex-3000 patrol vessels one stage further and the company admits that its design is 'provocative'.
