"The best way to predict the future is to invent it," computer scientist Alan Kay once said. The U.S. Army Aviation leadership agrees with this philosophy, and is all in! In the today's Army, we suffer from N-O-M...need one more! We need one more helicopter, one more truck, one more part, and one more dollar. However, N-O-M comes at a cost. One more piece of equipment means increased cost of ownership, one more part means increased storage and transportation requirements, and one more dollar equates to one less dollar elsewhere. What if we were able to increase our readiness rate by 3.75% at relatively little cost to the Army? That is like having one more helicopter or truck without the added cost of ownership. What if we looked inside an operational system and saw the failure before it happened so we could order the part when it is needed and not worry about storage and transportation of that part when it became time to deploy. This cost avoidance can be realized with technologies and processes we have access to today, enabling Army readiness.
