1. We have revised down our South Korea consumer spending projections on the back of the impact of coronavirus. 2. Real household spending in the country is now projected at 0.7% y-o-y in 2020, down from an original forecast of 3.1% for the year and a slowing on the 1.9% growth recorded in 2019. 3. This revision feeds into our Country Risk team’s economic growth revision, with real GDP for 2020 now projected at 1.7% from a previous estimate of 2.2%. 4. We have also revised our consumer segment projections for 2020, based on the shifting consumer behavioural patterns that we are witnessing from the spread of coronavirus.
