BMI View: Sanctions will remain in place on North Korea, but the June 12 summit between US President Donald Trump and North Korean Supreme Leader Kim Jong Un paves the way for a thawing in relations between the two and offers a route, which through the denuclearisation of North Korea will encourage dialogue on sanctions and the potential for future investment. We believe that as relations improve further, it is the North Korean consumer that will stand to benefit and considering the fact that the consumer will be developing from a very low base it is the food and drink sector that will witness some of the strongest growth. Here we explore the country's alcohol sector and outlook.
