India will be a strategic market for spirits manufacturers throughoutrnour forecast period to 2020, as investors are attracted by the country'srnstrong consumer fundamentals and spirits culture. As previouslyrnargued, India offers one of the most attractive consumer basesrnglobally as more households enter the middle class and urbanisationrnaccelerates (see 'Strong Consumer Fundamentals But RegulatoryrnObstacles Remain', October 8 2015). Sustained urbanisation willrnfacilitate the distribution of products to consumers. Meanwhile,rnbetween 2015 and 2020, an additional 82.2mn households willrnenter the USD5,000-10,000 income bracket, allowing consumers tornadopt more modern patterns of consumption and to purchase somerndiscretionary food and drink items.
