Robert Bell, Executive Director of the World Teleport Association (WTA), analyses how the increasing demand for bandwidth is changing the satellite business. Three articles dedicated to broadband satellite systems will follow. From where I sit, there are three huge changes happening in the satellite communications marketplace. And if you are not already focusing on them, you should be. Firstly, there is the rise of Internet-via-satellite. Three years ago, it was an experiment, while today is the fastest-growing segment of the satellite market - growing so fast that it is putting the squeeze on satellite capacity in every region of the world. Let me give you some examples.
