1 Ethan Harris, chair of ABA's Economic Advisory Committee and co-head of global economics research at Bank of America Merrill Lynch, offered the group's semiannual economic forecast at a press conference in January. Harris said that banks can look forward to a healthy economic environment in 2015, citing monthly job growth, stronger household balance sheets, gains in asset prices, and a growth-oriented fiscal and monetary policy environment as positive factors all pointing in the right direction. 2 ABA SVP Doug Johnson represented the financial services industry at a Senate Commerce subcommittee hearing in February on data breach legislation. Johnson told lawmakers that a national data security and breach notification standard is needed based on rigorous requirements already in place in the banking industry.
