ABABJ: At any one time, how many cases is ABA involved in? Greg Taylor: About 28 to 30. We frequently participate in amicus briefs in support of the industry, and we'll occasionally get involved in litigation in which we're a party. ABABJ: How do you choose the cases? GT: The interesting thing about this process is that they don't let the lawyers make the decision. It goes to ABA's Executive Committee, and the bankers make the decision. Most times, the industry will come to us and we'll be asked to participate. There are times, however, when the case itself suggests our involvement-preemption, for example. Part of my job is to follow trends in litigation affecting the industry and try to stay ahead of the curve.
