Taipei-It isn't all gloom and doom in Asia's battered communications sector, even with crashing broadband prides pressuring earning results at Internet-service providers. Sure, consumers benefit from lower prices, and droves of them are rushing to sign up for unlimited high-speed Internet services for about US$25 a month in advanced markets such as Hong Kong, Japan, South Korea and Taiwan. But there are other immediate beneficiaries, which make decent investments: equipment makers. All those new subscribers need new equipment to access the speedy services, making Asian networking-gear producers, such as those in Taiwan, a good bet.
