Having a bad day with your multimillion-dollar venture-capital investment? You aren't alone. The recently formed Asia Pacific Venture Capital Alliance feels your pain. The APVCA is reaching out to the region's disparate, and in some cases desperate, venture-capital investors this month in its first formal, public event. The First Annual Roundtable, to take place in Singapore June 27-28, aims to raise the profile, success and standards of practice for the industry, APVCA members say. "What we're trying to do is give our members better tools to work with," says Adrian Lam, an APVCA representative in Hong Kong and managing director of private-equity firm Lombard Apic. "Our role is to help our national [venture-capital associations] help their members to be better equipped to do a better job so that we can use their results to promote the industry in Asia to institutional investors in the future."
