Don Marcial, a Shipibo plant shaman from Peru, uses the smoke of his mapacho - a very potent variety of organic jungle tobacco - and the medicine songs he has learnt from more than 100 Amazonian plants to cure his patients. For millennia, Shipibo shamans in the Amazonian jungle have been honouring plants as teachers, and still revere them for the psychological and spiritual impacts they have on both individuals and communities.
