Dunlop Flooring general manager Ian Shannon says that the manufacturing process for company's carpet underlay makes it an accidental hero in the world of sustainable products, but this is something he is hoping to change.Speaking recently at the final lecture for 2011 held by TFIA and RMIT on sustainability in the TCF supply chain, Shannon said that Dunlop Flooring's Polyurathane underlay has distinct environmental advantages over its rubber competition."There is nothing natural or good environmentally about rubber underlay once you have seen all the processes it goes through after leaving the rubber plantation," he said."Our Polyurethane underlay is made from unwanted scrap, trimmed foam from mattress manufacturing and our product contains 98 per cent recycled inputs."
