Twenty-one delegates representing 12 countries from around the Indo-Pacific and beyond attended the 17th International Sea Lines of Communication Conference in Taipei. The gathering was convened by the ministries of National Defense and Foreign Affairs, but with specific responsibilities for the design and execution of the program allotted to the National Defense University and its Department of East Asian and Pacific Affairs. The conference organisers also attracted an audience from within Taiwan that represented interests from across the maritime spectrum and a significant number of members of the armed forces.
