摘要

The Republic of Korea Navy (RoKN) held its 10th international sea power symposium over 13-14 September 2010 in Seoul; ably supported by the Korea Institute for Maritime Strategy and the SLOC Study Group-Korea.1 Events on the Korean peninsular were interesting in 2010 and this was reflected in the symposium. It appears the original focus of the symposium was to be an examination of changes in the international sea environment and the employment of naval power, to be held sometime in August. The sinking of ROKS Cheonan on 26 March 2010 impacted on planning for the symposium and it was conducted a month later than planned, with a focus on the security environment on the Korean peninsular and how this should drive the development of the RoKN.
