Working in Hong Kong is proving to be an exciting experience for AIRAH member Darren Miller. Post-97 hand-over blues are well and truly over, and deals like Disneyland, the government's recent commitment to improving the environment and encouragement to exploit local IT skills point to a bustling future for the region. Amidst this atmosphere Darren is also learning about different work practices and ethics since joining the team in September 1999 at Daniel Chan & Associates in Wan Chai, Hong Kong as a senior mechanical engineer. Darren says company director Professor Daniel Chan has spent considerable time working and studying in Australia and plays a unique role as an engineer and businessman who can bridge the gap between western- and eastern-style business and engineering.
