摘要

The incorporation of the first stage of a proposed two-stage chilled water thermal storage system into the existing Crawley Campus of the University of Western Australia, has effectively doubled the carrying capacity of the underground ring main without the need for any additional chiller plant or the alternative major task of upgrading the existing chilled water pipework. The necessity to increase the capacity to double that of the original system designed in the early 1970s resulted from a decision of the university to fully air condition all the existing buildings and future buildings on the campus serviced from the main central chilled water plant. By retaining the existing plant and infrastructure, and allowing the thermal storage tank to be located remote from the main chilled water plant room, the university will save several million dollars in capital, maintenance and energy costs over the next ten or so years.
