When Boeing formed its HorizonX innovation unit in April 2017, it was charged with pursuing potentially disruptive ideas both inside and outside of the company. Since then, the unit has made venture capital investments in several startups ranging from advanced materials to artificial intelligence, autonomous systems to augmented reality and hybrid-electric propulsion.
