President Donald Trump has done more to make aerospace and defense CEOs household names than any other commander in chief in living memory. United Technologies Corp. Chairman/President/CEO Greg Hayes's visit to Trump Tower in New York last November-to work out the so-called Carrier jobs deal-marked the first of similar treks by other top manufacturers' leading lights, including — Lockheed Martin's Marillyn Hewson (see photo) and Boeing's Dennis Muilenburg. Each has been forced to defend their companies and offer promises that simultaneously satisfy the new president while not triggering alarm among corporate stakeholders.
