Regarding the pilot shortage.... No wait, the STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) shortage. ... No wait, the shortage of medical professionals... and so forth. H.L. Mencken stated it succinctly: "When someone says it's not about the money, it's about the money." A decent wage would cure a lot of the shortages. I am speaking as a retired airline pilot who came from the military, where I received exemplary training. And I was fortunate to become a pilot for a major carrier at a time when one could do so and be well compensated.
