The price of carbon dioxide allowances (EUAs) under the EU Emissions Trading System (ETS) rebounded in April, having crashed to a nine-month low in late March. The price of EUAs for delivery in December 2014 climbed to as high as €5.78 per metric ton ($8) by the close on April 24, up from a nine-month low of €4.41 on March 28, according to Platts assessments. The modest rally followed a sharp sell-off in March as speculators quit long positions taken ahead of the European Commission's backloading plan.
