Bombardier is hoping to kick off deliveries of the CRJ1000 before year-end in a bid to avoid a sharp decline in production for 2010. The Canadian manufacturer has seen dramatic decreases in jet airliner output in the first half of the year, not least because of delays in getting the CRJ1000 into customer hands. Bombardier delivered just 10 CRJ700/900s during the first six months of its 2010-11 fiscal year (which began Feb. 1), two-thirds fewer than during the same period last year. For the whole of its fiscal 2009-10, Bombardier shipped a total of 60 CRJs. The company has indicated the majority of its airliner deliveries this year will be made between the second and fourth quarters.
