Since acquiring Gulfstream Aerospace in 1999, General Dynamics has grown its aerospace segment to more than $5 billion in annual revenues via its expanding range of business aviation products and services. The evolution of the new segment advanced significantly in 2001 when the previously acquired maintenance and outfitting units of K-C Aviation were combined with the former Signature Regional Maintenance Centers to form General Dynamics Aviation Services (GDAS), servicing Challenger, Falcon, Hawker and other business aircraft. Subsequently, the company built a new GDAS service center in Dallas; opened one in Appleton, Wis.; expanded its Minneapolis unit; and acquired a facility in Lincoln, Calif. Gulfstream also purchased a service center at Luton Airport, outside London, and is erecting a facility in Savannah, Ga., which, when fully completed this year, will be the world's largest, purpose-built business jet center.

While quite a number of English-Japanese dictionaries of business and legal terms have been publishedin Japan, there seem to be very few Japanese-English dictionaries on the market which give clear explanations of thesubtle differences in meaning between the various English equivalents of terms in such specialized fields.
