Pilot training, hiring and flight-duty time standards will get a massive overhaul under a proposed law that also mandates steps the FAA and airlines must take to maintain safe flight crews and operations.rnThe House Transportation and Infrastructure Committee's bipartisan bill, introduced July 29, is aimed at both regional and major carriers. Together with industry stakeholders, committee members forged proposed legislation prompted by the safety issues that emerged from the NTSB's probe of the Feb. 12 crash of Colgan Air/Continental Connection Flight 3407 near Buffalo, N.Y., in which 50 people died.
