Mechtronix Systems Inc. says its new approach to designing lower cost simulators is allowing small airlines to use a single, dedicated unit to take care of most or all of their pilot training needs. The company, based in Montreal, has only been selling full flight simulators for about three years. The design philosophy for FAA-approved Level B simulators stands in sharp contrast to that for traditional Level D simulators that can cost $10-12 million.
