Airlines are vowing to continue their battle against the European Union after the European Court of Justice upheld regulations aimed at providing added protection to passengers by giving them more legal grounds on which to sue carriers. Although unhappy, airline representatives—in particular, the International Air Transport Assn.—are trying to cool the rhetoric directed at the European Commission, which devised the passenger-protection rules.
