Tokyo Narita International Airport is making a big leap toward more efficient connections and operations for airline alliances, thanks to a new concourse and one of the largest terminal reorganizations since the airport opened 28 years ago. Narita is Japan's primary international gateway, but the airport has been a major frustration for its airline tenants because they have not been allowed to colocate their operations near their alliance partners, making for lengthy connections. After years of complaints and lobbying, the world's carriers are finally getting their wish starting this month as Narita opens an eight-gate satellite concourse in the South Wing of Terminal 1, which allows Star Alliance members to operate from one area.
