Advances in aircraft and engine technology are enabling Boeing and Airbus to develop new models capable of flying routes that are not commercially viable with existing types. Airlines are taking advantage of this to target ultra-long-haul flights-and in some cases are pushing the manufacturers to stretch aircraft capabilities even further.
