Bell is overselling the safety of Nexus urban air mobility (UAM) concept aircraft when it states that they "don't have to carry extra parachutes and can always land safely under [their] own power" (Jan. 14-27, p. 50).The environment the Nexus is destined to fly in-bird and drone strikes, collisions with UAM or manned aircraft, inevitable mechanical failures of any type and the obvious limited glide ratio of the vehicle-means that this flying consumer will not boarda Nexus until it is installed with a ballistic recovery parachute system as standard equipment.
