This is a time of significant opportunity for the aerospace and defense industry (A&D), with global air travel demand expected to grow through 2035 and positive levels of defense spending. The industry is thriving and innovating to meet evolving customer demands. But as technological change accelerates, so does the competition for talent that can develop technology for continued innovation.While aerospace companies are building more efficient aircraft, they may struggle to attract sufficient technology talent needed to lead the emerging transformative change in travel. The same holds true in the defense arena, where commercial industry investment is taking the lead in technology areas traditionally led by A&D (e.g., artificial intelligence, machine learning, autonomy and cyber). To address these future challenges, A&D companies need to be prepared to deal with such technological disruptions.
