摘要

Things may be looking up for Europe's short-haul sector: A week-on-week recovery in demand is holding steady as the summer gets underway, and a new EU Digital COVID-19 certificate aimed at smoothing travel is in place. But for network carriers desperate for some good news on long-haul routes, the signals are still mixed. While there have been some positive announcements in recent weeks that allow for more long-haul demand to return, for many airlines it is not yet enough."There is no question long-haul international travel is going to lag the narrowbody activity," said GE Aviation CEO John Slattery during an online interview organized by Eurocon-trol on June 24. "We see narrowbody activity, the [Boeing] 737s, the [Airbus] A320s getting back to pre-COVID levels sometime early in 2023. The widebody activity will probably... lag about 12 months."
